Nehemiah – Dealing With Distractions
In our previous study from the book of Nehemiah chapter five we looked at how Nehemiah overcame the internal challenges he faced through his fear for the Lord and his sincere compassion for the people of God. In chapter six we find Nehemiah faced with external challenges that fuels the intensity of conflict just as the rebuilding of the wall of Jerusalem was nearing completion. Now we are presented with distractions perpetuated by Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem who oppose Nehemiah's efforts.
Thus far we have seen Nehemiah faced with:
mockery in chapter 2:19
ridicule in chapter 4 verses 1 to 3 and
confusion in chapter 4 verses 7 to 12.
To make matters worse, Nehemiah is now faced with:
distraction in chapter 6 verses 2 to 4
false accusation in chapter 6 verses 5 to 9
fear in chapter 6 verse 10 and
intimidation in chapter 6 verse 19.
Let us look in detail Nehemiah Chapter 6:1-19:
- The Challenge of Diversion
- The Challenge of False Accusation
- The Challenge of False Religion
- The Challenge of the Wall completed
- Lingering Challenges
- Conclusion
